We are pleased to offer these travel options for getting to/from Roatan to Guanaja.
FERRY
The Roatan Ferry is a 52′ Catamaran yacht that offers two classes of seating options. The Regular Class has 250 seats in the lower cabin with LCD TV screens for passenger entertainment. We prefer to book our guests in the First Class section, which accommodates 60 passengers in an enclosed upper deck of the vessel with privacy, more space, and comfort. In addition, First Class offers a complimentary soft drink and snack during the trip, TV screens, and private washrooms. Should you wish to spend part of the time outdoors, First Class guests can also sit or visit the area outside. On Saturdays, the Ferry currently departs for Guanaja at 4:00 pm. Therefore, guests should be at the ferry ½ hour before departure.
Ticket prices, including ground transfers to and from the ferry, are $170.00 per person, round trip. Gratuities for the transfer driver are not included, so tipping them will be greatly appreciated.
Reservations: Reservations should be made with us in advance so that transfers can be pre-arranged from the airport. The ferry and transfer fees will be prepaid along with your Resort package.
Getting from Roatan to Guanaja: Upon arrival into Roatan, you will first clear immigration. The next stop is the baggage carousels, where you will grab your bags. Depending upon the airport rules in effect when you arrive, our representative, a baggage handler named Oliver (or, in his absence, Orlando), will be near the carousel or at the end of the baggage x-ray machine belt. Depending on your arrival time, he may be busy helping other guests, so please stay in that area until he returns and follow his directions. Oliver or his alternate will be looking for Clark’s Cay or Dunbar Rock luggage tags, so please use those on all your checked luggage.
He/they will help you with your luggage and get you checked in to your onward flight if flying to Guanaja or assist you in finding your ground transfer company if you are taking the ferry to Guanaja. Guests can feel comfortable utilizing their trustworthy services, and tipping them will be greatly appreciated.
If you are transferring directly to the ferry terminal, it is less than a 10-minute drive away. The modern airport has a spacious air-conditioned waiting area and café where light snacks, cakes, and pre-packaged snacks and beverages can be purchased before boarding.
Several incoming flights leave ample time to spend a few hours exploring Roatan before heading to the ferry terminal. If this is the case with your incoming flight, consider booking a transfer and a tour. A stop at the Sloth and Monkey Park and the Roatan Chocolate Factory is high on the list. Get a quick briefing on the chocolate-making process, sample the candy, and stock up on goodies!
Your driver/guide will keep your luggage secure on the van during the tour and then take you to the ferry terminal, where the staff will be ready to take your checked baggage. Please let us know if you can combine your transfer or tour with other resort guests. Sometimes the more is merrier and more fun!
Luggage Benefit: Three checked bags are allowed for free, with a maximum weight of 50 lbs. each. (Great news for our photographers and divers!)
Once onboard, sit back, relax, and let the vacation experience begin on the scenic 1 1/2-hour motor to or from Guanaja.
Arriving in Guanaja: The Ferry arrives at the boat landing at Bonacca Cay, Guanaja, at 5:30 pm. The timing is perfect for watching the sun begin to set. Seeing the many small outboards coming to pick up family and friends (no cars here!) also makes for an enjoyable cultural experience.
Getting from Guanaja to Roatan: The Ferry departs Bonacca, Guanaja, at 8:30 am on Saturdays, arriving back at the ferry terminal in Roatan at approximately 10:00. Once you have collected your luggage in the baggage terminal, a driver will be outside the baggage claim waiting for you if we have booked your transfers or tour.
